Researching the history of a 1930s Housing estate Bolton, United Kingdom
The display time for our exhibition has been extended at Hall i’th’Wood Museum and will continue until 18th May 2019; the museum is open Tuesday 10 am – 4 pm and Saturday 12 pm – 4 pm.
We launched our exhibition Saturday 23rd March 2019. MP David Crausby opened the exhibition (photo below); he reminisced about working at Walmsley’s paper roller manufacturers on Crompton Way; which was mentioned in the exhibition.
The event was also supported by local Councillors; Hanif Darvesh and Bilkis Ismail (speaking above)
It was great to hear people sharing their stories, catching-up with old friends etc.
This website celebrates a local community in Bolton.
A group of local residents and ex-residents came together; receiving a small grant from Bolton Council, to research the history of their estate.
They spent time in the local archives, organised community events and used social media to collate stories/make contact with ex-residents.
Monies went towards producing an exhibition which was held at Hall I’th’Wood museum, Bolton. Running from 23rd March 2019 – 30th April 2019 (note Museum opening hours Tuesday 10 am – 4 pm and Saturday 12 pm – 4 pm)
During: 23rd March – 30th April 2019 we will be loading content onto here; as so much information was gathered it could not all form part of the exhibition.
So we have chosen to share it here with you for the purpose of learning and maybe jogging a few of your own memories.
